Tips
Nib is write, talk, and edit with AI — on one page. The more it fits your hand, the fewer moves it takes.
● Tips marked like this involve AI.
Never leave the keyboard.
Nib's editor is plain Markdown. It formats live as you type, and the syntax never disappears.
- On an empty line, press Space — an AI card opens right there. Tell it what to write and it continues your note "Summarize in three lines," "make this a list" — ask as you write
- On an empty line, press / — a block menu for headings, lists, checkboxes, quotes, tables
- Headings are #, lists -, checkboxes - [ ] — just type and it formats Tap a checkbox to toggle it. [[Note name]] links notes together
Recording becomes minutes.
Words turn to text as you speak. It all runs on-device, and audio never leaves it.
- Tap the microphone in the toolbar to start — meetings or a passing thought, captured as text
- Transcripts stay in their own panel, never mixed into your text, so your draft keeps its own voice
- Minutes from a recording in one tap — decisions, to-dos, and next steps, organized Live minutes grow as you record; by the end, they're already there
- On Mac, the other side of a call (system audio) is transcribed too — both sides of an online meeting
Let AI edit, then approve.
AI changes don't stick until you approve them. Don't like it? Back to how it was.
- Select the text you want changed → ✦ → give an instruction. Changes are highlighted; you approve or discard "Make it formal," "half the length" — it only touches what you selected
- Press ⌘⇧J for the "Write with AI" panel — just chat, append to the end, or patch part of the note
- Write your tone and rules in Settings → "Instructions for AI," and every AI follows them "Use 'I'," "lead with the conclusion" — so you don't repeat yourself
Ask across every note.
The assistant answers from all your notes, not just the one you're in.
- "Ask your notes" in the sidebar — find, summarize, or write it out to a new note, all handled for you Ask naturally: "What did we decide in last week's meeting?"
- Appending to an existing note is approval-based too — nothing changes behind your back
Find it, recall it, don't forget it.
A vague memory is enough. Search by meaning, and let it remind you of what matters.
- Search works by meaning — you don't need the exact words to find the right note
- Attach an image and the text inside it becomes searchable (OCR) — find that photo of a whiteboard or handout
- Tap a date in your text, or set a reminder, to get a notification — fully on-device, independent of the system Reminders app
Make it yours.
The look, and how fast and how smart the AI is, are all in your hands.
- Pick the cloud AI model: Auto / Speed / Smart / Quality Not sure? "Auto" routes each task to the model that fits it best
- The UI is monochrome ink and indigo. When you see the accent color, that's AI — Nib's tell
- iCloud keeps iPhone and Mac in sync. Note lock (Face ID) and a 30-day trash keep it worry-free
Draw it. Shoot it.
Some thoughts aren't words. Sketch them — or point your iPhone at them.
- Type "/" and choose Drawing for a full-screen canvas (pinch to zoom) — the sketch lands right where you were writing (iPhone/iPad)
- Legible handwriting is recognized on-device, so sketches show up in search
- On Mac, right-click in a note to take a photo or scan a document with your iPhone — inserted right where you clicked
Clip from your browser.
Reading something worth keeping? It's one right-click away from being a note.
- Install Nib Clipper from the Chrome Web Store — works in Chrome, Brave, and Edge
- Select text on any page, right-click, and choose "Add to Nib" — saved instantly, with a link back to the source page
Capture from anywhere.
The fastest note is the one that doesn't make you open the app first.
- Widgets on iPhone and Mac — one tap starts a new note or a recording from the Home Screen or desktop
- On Mac, the menu-bar pen captures a thought without leaving the app you're in
- On iPhone, share text or a link from any app via the Share sheet — it lands in Nib with the source attached
A copilot in your meetings.
While you record, Nib listens for the moments that need an answer.
- Live Assist — when a question or an issue comes up in the conversation, an answer draft appears beside your note, grounded in what you've written Insert the useful ones with one tap; dismiss the rest
- Minutes adapt to the content — interviews, lectures, and videos get a fitting summary instead of an empty meeting template
- Live minutes refresh on your schedule — anywhere from every minute to once an hour
Nib on your wrist.
Your watch becomes the capture button that's always with you.
- Quick memos from the wrist — recorded on your watch, transcribed on your iPhone, saved as a note
- Start, pause, or stop an iPhone recording without taking it out of your pocket
Hear it in your language.
A meeting in another language becomes a transcript in yours — while it's still happening.
- Tap Translate on the recording card and pick a language — the translation flows in below the transcript as you record Confirmed lines are ink; the sentence still being spoken stays grey
- Already-recorded notes translate too — open the transcript and tap Translate
- Everything runs on the device: free, and it works offline once the language pack is downloaded
Start with one recording, or press Space on an empty line.
Nib gets better the more you use it.
